Before & Aftercare (SACC)
SACC (School Aged Child Care) is available every morning and evening.
Before Care begins at 6:00 a.m. until the beginning of the school day.
After Care begins at school dismissal time until 6:00 p.m.
Summer Care is 6:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.
Students must be registered for SACC to attend.
If students are to attend after school child care, please notify your student’s teacher to ensure that your student is dismissed to the proper area.
Eligibility
All children enrolled in the program must attend Hamilton County Public Schools. Children must have completed Kindergarten prior to enrolling in the summer program. During the school year, children must be enrolled in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Purpose
The purpose of the SACC Program is to provide adult supervision before and after school hours for students whose parents work outside the home. The School Age Child Care Program is not an educational program and does not provide educational services, including special education and/or related services necessary to implement a child’s IEP.
Location & Drop offs/Pick ups
The SACC childcare program operates out of our multi-purpose room. It is located at the back of the school with parking/access behind the cafeteria.
When dropping off or picking up your children for morning childcare or afternoon care, please pull around to the back of the building where you will find several parking spots. Park and enter the multi-purpose room to sign in your children.
Please also note that after school childcare will also take place each day during the summer in the multi-purpose room. Parents again will drop off and pick up at the back of the building. Please come inside when dropping off and picking up your children.
There is an annual registration fee $20 submitted with a completed appliation and daily fees:
Before-Care: $6
After-Care: $9
Full-days/Summer: $20
Siblings: Half Price
Half price for siblings apply to only one sibling. Siblings will only be half of the original price.
Full-days include conference days, professional development days, and school closings due to weather conditions.
If there is a school closing due to weather conditions, SACC locations will most likely close as well. Parents will be notified as to what schools are open.
Parents’ Responsibilities
Notify the Child Care staff if your child will be attending on special days, (early dismissal, full day sessions, in-service days, holidays, etc.)
Sign their children in/out of SACC daily.
What happens if I am late picking up my child?
The School Age Child Care Program closes promptly at 6:00 p.m. If you arrive later, you will be charged an additional fee of $5.00 for each 15 minutes per child, or a portion thereof, after the 6:00 p.m. sign-out time. (Don’t be late!)
Medications
If it is necessary that a medication be given during school hours or the hours that the child care is in operation, parents much check with the Site Director as school rules and Board policy will dictate the administration of all medication.
Programs
During school holidays, in-service days, and during summer child care, interesting field trips will be taken (pool days, skating rink, etc.).
The cost of field trips will be in addition to regular child care fees. Fees will vary based on the field trip destination.
A worker will remain at the school site if there are three or more children whose parents choose for them not to go on a particular field trip. Check with the Child Care site for additional information. We will attempt to publish the daily field trip schedule on the web site when announced.
Children will attend the zone school (Nolan elementary or Thrasher Elementary on a rotating summer schedule) for some full days and during summer care.
Please contact the Nolan SACC staff and they will direct you as to where the child care sessions will be located.
All SACC programs are closed on the following days:

Whether you want to work directly with students in the art room, support the work of the PTA on committees, quietly make copies for teachers, or create content at home for our social media, there is a place for you! DIRECTIONS TO NOLAN:
Drive up Signal Mountain via the main road, Signal Mountain Boulevard/Route 127. After the “Welcome to Signal Mountain” sign but before the traffic light, take the first left onto Signal Mountain Blvd. — it is directly across from the CVS entrance. This will become Maryland Avenue and then it becomes James Boulevard after bending around to the right. Turn left onto Timberlinks Drive, just before the Golf Club. Stay on Timberlinks for about two miles. It will bend to the right and become Shackleford Ridge Road. Turn left onto Sam Powell Drive and Nolan Elementary is on your left.
The 3-5 grade entrance is past the parking lot on the left. The main school entrance is past that on the left, across from the flag. Continue up Sam Powell past Nolan, to the next left for the K-2 entrance line.
Morning Drop-Off:
Student drop-off may begin at 8:15 am as teachers are on-duty for student safety and supervision.
Orange cones are placed at the school’s third/main entrance at 8:15 am each morning. Please proceed down towards SMMHS to the last Nolan entrance and turn left into the drive just before entering the middle/high school campus for car rider drop-off.
Cars will pull all the way down past the front entrance to the cone where staff and/or safety patrol are directing. Several cars will unload at once and students will proceed into the building through the front doors. Please have students ready to exit with their belongings by themselves each morning to keep the flow of our morning traffic. To ensure the safety of our children, please do not pull out of line while children are still unloading. Follow the car in front of you through the line and out the exit.
Afternoon Pick-Up:
Car riders must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after school dismisses. Remaining students will be checked into the aftercare program, and SACC registration and daily rates will apply. Please have your Nolan car tags visible to assist our teachers with loading. This is especially helpful on rainy days!
Absolutely no parking in the main front entrance of the school after 3:00 p.m., as we must keep this area clear for buses. If you need to dismiss your child early from school, please park in the back of the side lot, so as to not block the 3-5 pickup lines. Walk into the main entrance and sign your child out in the office.
WHITE LINE: Please turn onto Sam Powell Drive using the right outside lane. Proceed to the last Nolan entrance on the left, before the Middle-High School Campus. Please pull all the way up to the orange cones in either the left or right lane. This ensures we can fit as many cars as possible in the lines. Do not pull ahead or out of the line until the teacher has motioned for you to do so.
GREEN LINE: Please turn onto Sam Powell Drive using the left inside turn lane. Immediately turn left off of Sam Powell Drive, to the side parking lot, in the left or right pickup lane beside the school. Once recess has been dismissed, the lines may move up slightly. Please do not park and leave your car unattended during this time. Please do not block the designated pedestrian walkways. Once pickup has begun, proceed ahead when directed, and exit the back of the school back onto Shackleford Ridge in your appropriate lane. Do not pull ahead or out of the line until the teacher has motioned for you to do so.

All students must be picked up according to school procedures. If you have a question, please contact school administration at 423-886-0898.
Thank you for following the above procedures to ensure the safety of all of our Nolan students!
BUS INFORMATION
For bus rules, bus stop locations, numbers, etc., visit HCDE.
To keep our families informed, Nolan Elementary offers a text messaging service to the parents/guardians of bus riders.
When HCDE Transportation notifies Nolan that a bus is running late, a text will be sent to those who are registered informing you of the delay.
Some Notes Regarding Traffic:
In the afternoons, traffic does not move from shortly before 3:30 p.m. until the students are dismissed from Nolan at 3:40 p.m. Once school lets out and the students make it to their rides, traffic starts to flow again. Because of this, the best time to arrive is right after school is out, when traffic has begun to flow once more.
Please do NOT block the intersections around and at the school. This includes Shackleford Ridge/Sam Powell stop sign intersection, and all entrance/exit intersections. Please note that buses must be able to get into the school as well, and please follow the directions of local police officers helping direct traffic, when present.
Do not leave cars parked/unattended in front of the school after 3:20 p.m. If you are volunteering at school and will be there past 3:20, please use the side parking lot. Thank you.
Please note there are also student/parent pedestrians making their way to and from the school both in the mornings and afternoons. Pedestrians have the right of way. Please do not block the designated walkway. Thank you.
We appreciate everyone’s diligence in ensuring the safety of all students and parents during drop-off and pick-up at Nolan.
Thank you!
